With an initial focus on breast cancer surgery, OncoRes aims to ensure complete tumour removal during the first operation, thereby avoiding repeat surgery and ensuring improved outcomes for patients and the health system.
Up to one-third of women undergoing breast conserving surgery require repeat surgery because the tumour was inadvertently left behind. In addition to the significant costs, re-excisions carry a high risk of patient complications.
OncoRes has developed an imaging platform that provides real-time in-cavity imaging to guide surgeons and ensure all the cancer is removed the first time.
